The Lbauer Mountain witha height of 448m has always been regarded as Lbau's landmark. It forms together the immedeately following Schafberg a double-peak mountain. The Lbauer Mountain is one of the mountains in the Oberlausitz that has the most species.

At the mountain's peak stands the cast-iron tower that is named after the Saxon King Friedrich August. It is one of a kind in Europe. The 28m high tower on an octagonal layout is a technical monument because of its artistic moulds and rich ornaments in the neo-Gothic and Byzantine style. One has an excellent viewinto theZittauer Mountains in the south, to the Bohemian low mountain range in the south-west up to the Landeskrone near Grlitz in the east. From the Honig-Fountain's plateau also called the balcony of the Oberlausitz, the visitor has an unobstructed view into the Oberlausitzer lowlands.

Many legends entwine around the two peaks, like the existence of a money cellar in the Schafberg and a wonder flower. A wild hunter with the name Jan Dittrich was supposedly up to mischief here in the area.
Once you mastered the ascent you can take a breather at the cosy Turmgaststtte.
